privacy notice
the short version: we ask for as little as possible, we tell you why, and you can have it deleted whenever you want. the long version is below.
what we collect
only what you type in yourself. there are three places you can do that.
- 01donating. stripe processes the payment. we receive your name, your email and the amount. we never see or store your card number.
- 02the mailing list. your first name and email. that is it.
- 03the contact form. your name, email and whatever you send us.
we do not ask your age, your address or anything about your politics.
why we are allowed to hold it
for the mailing list, your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. for donations, a legal obligation, because payments have to be recorded for accounts and tax. for messages you send us, our legitimate interest in replying to you.
how long we keep it
- donation recordssix full financial years after the donation, then deleted. hmrc requires this.
- mailing listuntil you unsubscribe.
- contact messagestwelve months after we have replied.
who else sees it
three suppliers, and nobody else:
stripe for card payments, our accountant for the donation figures and google analytics for anonymised visit numbers — configured with google signals and ad personalisation switched off. all of them are bound by contract to use your data only for that job. stripe and google are both us companies, so some of this data is handled outside the uk under each company's standard transfer safeguards.
when we add an email provider for the mailing list we will name it here before the first send.
we do not sell data. we do not swap lists with campaigns, parties or anyone else. we do not run advertising trackers on this site.
cookies
no advertising or profiling cookies without asking first. stripe sets its own cookies on the payment step to catch fraud, and we log anonymous visit counts ourselves that cannot be traced back to a person. if you accept the cookie banner, google analytics also sets a cookie to count visits — change your mind any time from the banner or the link.
your rights
you can ask for a copy of everything we hold on you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. you can unsubscribe from any email using the link at the bottom of it. you do not have to give a reason for any of this.
email privacy@dontbingenz.com and we reply within one month.
if we get it wrong you can complain to the information commissioner's office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. you are not charged for it.
who runs this site
don't bin gen z is run by michael allen, trading as micz.co.uk, in the united kingdom. we are the data controller for everything described here. ask by email if you need a postal address for formal correspondence and we will give you one.
